Home Your Visit Policies & Safety
LACGH is a smoke-free and scent-free facility. Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited anywhere on hospital property. This policy protects patients, staff, and visitors, particularly those with respiratory conditions or sensitivities.
Please use off-site designated smoking areas if needed.
For the protection of our high-risk (sensitive) patients and staff, please refrain from the use of perfumes, cologne and/or other scented products while in the hospital.
Our hospital encourages family-centred care. Visitors are encouraged to visit only one (1) patient per visit. Please limit visitors to no more than two (2) at a time. Visitors are welcome to bring children when appropriate, but please ensure supervision and respect for patients and staff. For safety reasons, children are not permitted in certain clinical areas.
Certified service animals are welcome in hospital public areas, provided they are leashed or harnessed and under control at all times. Visiting pets may be allowed under specific circumstances with prior approval and must meet health and safety guidelines.
LACGH maintains a secure environment through on-site security staff, visitor sign-in procedures, and surveillance systems. If you find an article, please turn it in to Switchboard or a staff member.
If you’ve lost an item during your visit, please contact the Lost & Found at the main reception desk or call (613) 354-3301, extension 0.
A number of practices have been put in place to help prevent and control infections, including a comprehensive hand hygiene program.
The provincial government’s multifaceted hand hygiene program, “Just Clean Your Hands”, was been introduced in an effort to promote effective hand hygiene, not only for health care providers, but for patients and visitors as well.
Visitors and patients are encouraged to use hand sanitizer stations located throughout the hospital and to follow posted hygiene guidelines.
When you hear an alarm with the announcement of “CODE RED”, this is a fire alarm. Please be aware doors in hallways will close automatically and elevators must not be used at this time. Remain calm and listen for instructions from hospital staff. Do not move through the hospital unless directed to by staff or fire department personnel or until you hear the ALL CLEAR announcement. We regularly participate in fire drills so we can confidently respond in an actual emergency situation. The staff are well trained in responding to emergency situations and are committed to your safety.
Be aware of your surroundings and report any security concerns to hospital staff.
We strive to provide a latex free environment for the safety of sensitive patients and staff. For this reason, latex balloons are not permitted.
All personal electrical equipment must be inspected by the Maintenance staff prior to use in the Hospital. Please inform the nurse of any equipment you wish to use.
LACGH is dedicated to providing accessible services. For detailed information on available supports, including wheelchair access and interpreter services, please visit our Accessibility page.
