A Focus on Whole-Person Care

At Lennox & Addington County General Hospital’s Long-Term Care Unit, we deliver more than medical support; we create a vibrant, supportive community. Residents benefit from a person-centred approach that nurtures independence, respects individual needs, and fosters a sense of belonging.

Our interdisciplinary care team includes a medical director, nurse practitioner, nurses, occupational therapist, physiotherapists, recreational therapists, dietitians, and social workers. Together, we work to enhance every resident’s physical, emotional, and social well-being.

What We Provide

Residents have access to a broad range of daily services and care supports:
  • 24/7 nursing and personal care
  • Assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs)
  • Medication management and monitoring
  • Access to on-site physicians and specialists
  • Coordination of appointments and follow-up care

Therapy Services

The Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy department is on-site.

  • Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy assessments are on-site and upon admission
  • Personalized equipment planning and mobility support
  • Individual therapy programs (as needed)

Nutrition and Meals

LACGH specializes in providing delicious, nutritious meals for all residents. Meals are an important part of residents’ lives.

All residents are offered a choice of entrées and side dishes at every meal from a diverse seasonal menu. The menus are 21 days in duration to provide residents with a variety of meals. All menus are developed by a clinical dietitian to ensure they offer balanced meals that meet residents’ preferences and nutritional requirements. Menus are posted in the Dining Room.

  • Three home-cooked meals daily: breakfast at 8:00 a.m., lunch at 12:00 p.m., dinner at 5:00 p.m.
  • Three snack and nourishment times with at least two choices per break
  • Seasonal 21-day menu cycles, planned by a Clinical Dietitian
  • Posted menus and resident food satisfaction surveys
Special Diets Supported:

  • Minced or Pureed
  • Healthy Heart
  • Diabetic
  • High Energy/High Protein
  • Thickened Fluids


Alternate diets may be accommodated upon request.

Staying Active and Engaged

Our recreation therapy team runs daily programs that enhance physical, cognitive, emotional, and social wellness. Activities are designed around residents’ preferences and seasonal events. In providing recreational programs related to the physical, emotional, cognitive, social and spiritual aspects of care, we demonstrate our commitment to the importance of promoting quality of life.

Programs may include:
Rehabilitation room with therapy equipment and open floor space.

Many programs take place in our bright activity room, Healing Garden courtyard, or cozy common areas.

Resident-Centred Programming

We actively involve residents in shaping their daily experiences. From individual care planning to selecting programs, every voice matters. Residents are empowered to participate in:
  • Daily decision-making about routines and schedules
  • Program selection and feedback
  • Social committees or advisory groups
Our staff work with families to create a supportive environment where residents feel secure, valued, and truly at home.
