Basic Function and Scope:

As a member of an interdisciplinary team, the Outpatient/ Assessment Registered Nurse (RN) will be pivotal in the intake, assessment, treatment and monitoring processes primarily for the Cardiac/Respiratory Rehabilitation Program (CRRP) and for patients requiring pre-surgical screening. This position bridges clinical care with care coordination ensuring patients are properly assessed, educated and cleared for their care journey.

Hours of Work:
Rotating shifts (days, evenings, nights, and weekends) as required.
Pay Rate:
$40.24-$57.68

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Graduate of a Bachelor of Nursing Science (BScN) or equivalent;
  • Current B.C.L.S. certification;
  • Current A.C.L.S certification.
  • Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario;
  • Affiliation with professional organization is an asset.
  • Recent and related experience in a CRRP preferred;
  • Experience using Medical Directives, considered an asset;
  • Previous experience with patient education in a group/individual setting, considered an asset.
  • Excellent physical assessment skills and critical thinking;
  • Strong cardiac rhythm interpretation skills;
  • Proven effective communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to function independently as well as interdependently;
  • Ability to complete Best Possible Medication History (BPMH);
  • Ability to respond to and prioritize multiple demands;
  • Experience with program development, considered an asset;
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education;
  • Able to demonstrate ability to perform basic Internet research;
  • Able to demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Power Point, Excel and Outlook;
  • Ability to analyze program statistics to facilitate educational program planning;
  • Ability to develop program indicators to assess educational outcomes;
  • Must have previous good performance and attendance record.
