Basic Function and Scope:

As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the Personal Support Worker (PSW) works under the direction of the Nursing Unit Coordinator or Nursing Manager and in conjunction with the RN/RPN, performing assigned functions that support the team in the delivery of patient care.

Hours of Work:
Rotating shifts (days, evenings, nights, and weekends), as required.
Pay Rate:
$29.68-$31.38

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Secondary School Graduation Diploma;
  • Personal Support Worker Certificate from a recognized College;
  • B.C.L.S. Current Certificate.
  • Eligibility to become an HSCPOA PSW registrant, preferred.
  • Experience working with residents/patients with complex physical needs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing education;
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude;
  • Ability to function in crisis situations;
  • Demonstrated awareness of patient-centred care with the ability to work in a team environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, courteously and tactfully;
  • Maintains a friendly, caring and responsive attitude toward patient care;
  • Must have annual review education completed;
  • Must have a previous proven good performance and attendance record.
  • The applicant must be able to meet the physical demands of this position.
