Basic Function and Scope:

As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the Patient Flow Personal Support Worker (PSW) works under the direction of the Outpatient Manager and in conjunction with Nursing, Lab and Diagnostic Imaging personnel, performing assigned functions that support the team in the delivery of patient care and optimization of patient flow. The Patient Flow PSW is responsible for providing care to patients in the waiting room, portering patients to and from Diagnostic Imaging and portering specimens to the Lab in a timely manner to ensure ongoing departmental efficiency.

Hours of Work:
Rotating shifts (days, evenings, nights, and weekends), as required.
Pay Rate:
$29.23-$30.97

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Secondary School Graduation Diploma;
  • Personal Support Worker Certificate from a recognized College;
  • C.L.S. Current Certificate.
  • Eligibility to becoming a HSCPOA PSW registrant, preferred.
  • Experience working with resident/patients with complex physical needs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing education and ability to work at top of scope;
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude;
  • Ability to function in crisis situations;
  • Demonstrated awareness of patient centered care with the ability to work in a team environment;
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize multiple tasks;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, courteously and tactfully;
  • Maintains friendly, caring and responsive attitude toward patient care;
  • Must have annual review education completed;
  • Must have previous proven good performance and attendance record.
