Basic Function and Scope:

The Activity Aide supports the physical, cognitive, social, spiritual, and emotional well-being of residents by assisting in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of recreation and leisure programs. This role ensures program delivery is person-centred, promotes quality of life, and complies with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021 and its regulations.

Hours of Work:
Rotating shifts (days, evenings, nights, and weekends), as required.
Pay Rate:
$29.68-$31.38

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Secondary School Graduation Diploma;
  • Activity Aide Certificate from a recognized College;
  • A diploma in Recreation & Leisure Services or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with older adults in long-term care, community, or healthcare settings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage residents respectfully and inclusively.
  • Knowledge of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021 and Ontario regulations for recreation and social engagement.
  • Flexibility to adapt programs to a range of physical and cognitive abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, courteously and tactfully;
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with electronic health records (e.g., PointClickCare) is an asset.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification (preferred).
  • The applicant must be able to meet the physical demands of this position.
