Basic Function and Scope:

The Non-Registered Technologist MRT supports departmental operations by performing assigned duties that fall outside the scope of controlled acts, under the supervision and direction of a Registered Technologist.
This position is intended to support workforce development and address labour market needs by providing employment opportunities to graduates of accredited Medical Radiation Technology programs who are not yet certified or registered.
The incumbent will work collaboratively with members of the interprofessional team to contribute to safe, efficient, and patient-centered care while gaining relevant clinical experience in preparation for national certification and registration.

Hours of Work:
Rotating shifts in the unit as required.
Pay Rate:
$32.95

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Successful completion of an accredited Medical Radiation Technology program
  • Eligible to write the applicable national certification examination CAMRT
  • Demonstrated commitment to attempt the national certification examination within six (6) months of hire
  • Ability to work within a defined scope of practice under supervision
  • Demonstrated understanding of patient safety principles and infection prevention and control practices
  • Excellent customer service skills with sensitivity to needs of multicultural clientele
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interprofessional team
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
  • Satisfactory performance and attendance record

The applicant must be able to meet the physical demands of this position.

 

Conditions of Employment

Ongoing employment is contingent upon:

  • Successful completion of the applicable national certification examination within a maximum of two attempts, completed in immediate succession
  • Registration in good standing with the applicable regulatory body CMRITO
  • Ongoing availability of vacant Registered Technologist positions within the organization
