Basic Function and Scope:

The Clinical Dietitian, as a member of the Health Care Team, acts as a consultant in normal and therapeutic nutrition to outpatients with the diabetes education program (DEP) and participants in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, ensuring that clients receive appropriate nutritional care through direct patient contact and/or by working through the health care team. The Clinical Dietitian actively participates in the development of goals and objectives, program evaluation and quality improvement activities. As a clinical leader, the Clinical Dietitian may participate in the training, instruction, supervision and evaluation of dietetic interns. As part of the clinical dietitian team, provides coverage for urgent inpatient consults during various absences.

Monday to Friday, days
Pay Rate:
Will be in accordance with the Wage Scale of the S.E.I.U., Local 1 Canada, Paramedical Unit Collective Agreement for Clinical Dietitian Classification.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Graduate of a Canadian University Program in Foods and Nutrition or equivalent;
  • Completion of a dietetic internship;
  • Canadian Diabetes Educator Certification, preferred.
  • Registered with the College of Dietitians of Ontario;
  • Registered with the Diabetes Canada Association.
  • Minimum of two (2) years current relevant experience as a Clinical Dietitian is preferred.
  • Dedicated to providing outstanding patient service;
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills;
  • Ability to work in a team environment;
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office suite;
  • Organization skills for efficient service delivery;
  • Must have a previous proven good performance and attendance record.
  • The applicant must be able to meet the physical demands of this position.
